HCM CITY — The transport department of the southern province of Đồng Nai has proposed that a consulting unit research the development of an urban railway system connecting local cities and airports in the period 2021-30, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, this urban railway system would connect with Metro Line No 1 in HCM City.

To enhance inter-regional connection, the transport departments of HCM City and Bình Dương and Đồng Nai provinces have proposed a plan to extend Metro Line No 1 to connect with metro lines in Bình Dương and Đồng Nai provinces.

In particular, the section extended to Đồng Nai Province would be about 18.3km long and divided into three sections.

There will be a 3.8km section from S0 station to Vũng Tàu intersection, a 8.9km section from Vũng Tàu intersection to Sắt Market, and a 5.6km section from Sắt Market to Hố Nai 3 commune.

Đồng Nai Province’s Department of Transport has asked the consulting unit to research building a station in Biên Hòa 1 Industrial Park area with a station square model. This would be a station model connecting various modes of transport.

From Biên Hòa 1 Industrial Park station, there would be a metro line to Long Thành International Airport. From here, this metro line would connect with Thủ Thiêm light railway - Long Thành International Airport.

The two metro lines mentioned above will also connect to urban areas in Đồng Nai Province’s Nhơn Trạch, Long Thành, Thống Nhất and Trảng Bom districts. — VNS
