Over 2,700 new COVID cases reported in Hà Nội, 16,472 infections nationwide

The capital city of Hà Nội again registered a record high, with 2,716 new daily COVID-19 infections on Thursday, as the Ministry of Health reported 16,472 new cases of COVID-19 in 60 provinces and cities.

HÀ NỘI — The capital city of Hà Nội again registered a record high, with 2,716 new daily COVID-19 infections on Thursday, as the Ministry of Health reported 16,472 new cases of COVID-19 in 60 provinces and cities.

Of the daily caseload, 55 were imported and quarantined upon arrival, and the rest domestic, with 10,555 community transmissions. 

The new infections brought the nationwide tally to 1,843,563 since the start of the pandemic.

Other areas that recorded COVID cases were: Hải Phòng (923), Tây Ninh (853), Khánh Hòa (800), Bình Phước (798), Cà Mau (702), Bình Định (575), Trà Vinh (553), Vĩnh Long (519), Bến Tre (492), Hồ Chí Minh City (442), Hưng Yên (397), Bắc Ninh (347), Quảng Ninh (327), Bạc Liêu (301), Đà Nẵng (299), Hà Giang (264), Thừa Thiên-Huế (247), Lâm Đồng (230), Quảng Ngãi (230), An Giang (230), Thanh Hóa (217), Bắc Giang (213), Thái Nguyên (193), Vĩnh Phúc (186), Quảng Nam (179), Cần Thơ (163), Nam Định (156), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (152), Thái Bình (143), Phú Yên (142), Nghệ An (139), Bắc Kạn (134), Đồng Nai (132), Bình Thuận (124), Đồng Tháp (120), Hòa Bình (119), Kiên Giang (118), Tiền Giang (117), Sơn La (117), Phú Thọ (110), Đắk Nông (106), Sóc Trăng (104), Gia Lai (104), Hà Nam (95), Bình Dương (91), Ninh Bình (87), Cao Bằng (86), Long An (64), Quảng Bình (59), Quảng Trị (54), Hậu Giang (48), Yên Bái (46), Tuyên Quang (45), Ninh Thuận (42), Lào Cai (42), Lai Châu (37), Điện Biên (37), Hà Tĩnh (29) and Lạng Sơn (22).

A further 170 deaths were also announced, bringing the death toll from the virus to 33,644.

A total of 28,369 patients were announced as fully recovered from the virus on Thursday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,464,415.
