HÀ NỘI — The 11th session of the National Assembly will take place from March 24 to April 2 next year with a provision to be held online in case of a worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement was made on Thursday as National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee deputies continued their agenda of the 51st session, giving comments on the conclusion of the 10th session and discussing the initial preparation of the 11th session of the National Assembly.

According to the Secretary General, Chairman of the NA Office, Nguyễn Hạnh Phúc, at the 11th session, the deputies will discuss the draft report on the 14th NA, review work for the 2016-21 term of the President, the Government, the NA Standing Committee, the Ethnic Council, committees of the National Assembly, People's Supreme Court, People’s Supreme Procuracy and the State Audit.

In preparation for the 11th session, Phúc said deputies will consider and approve in advance the draft amended Law on Drug Prevention and Control. The NA Standing Committee deputies will also work on three draft law projects of the amended Law on Road Traffic, the law on ensuring road traffic order and safety and the law on forces involved in protecting security and order at the grassroots level. After getting the reports from the Government on the three law projects, the NA Standing Committee will consider submitting them to the 11th session of the National Assembly next year.

On the same day, the NA Standing Committee concluded its one-and-a-half-day 51st meeting session.

Speaking at the conclusion, NA Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân noted that in the first month of 2021, there would be many things to do besides preparing and attending the 13th National Party Congress, and at the same time, work must be carried out to prepare for the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly.

She suggested that the NA agencies co-ordinate with the Government agencies as well as relevant agencies and organisations to carry out the work according to the proposed plan with the highest effort to complete into responsibilities.

"Not because of the end of the term, not because of the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday or because we are busy with the Party Congress that we should neglect our political duties," Ngân stressed. VNS
