HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation concluded a five-day official visit to Japan on Thursday.
Before leaving Japan, the PM visited the headquarters of the Nidec-Shimpo Corporation of Nidec Group – a world leading high-tech company that started operation in 1973.
Nidec has carried out investment activities in Việt Nam’s southern metropolis of HCM City since 1998 with seven projects worth nearly US$800 million, contributing to the city’s socio-economic development over the past 20 years.
The group is studying an investment project of about $500 million at Hòa Lạc Hi-tech Park, which is expected to generate thousands of jobs and bring in huge export turnover.
The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and the capital of Hà Nội will create the best conditions for foreign investors, including Nidec, to operate effectively in Hòa Lạc Hi-tech Park.
He praised Nidec’s plan to build a research and development centre in HCM City and suggested establishing a similar one in Hà Nội to enhance cooperation in training and scientific research with Vietnamese universities.
Nidec President and CEO Shigenobu Nagamori thanked the Vietnamese Government and PM Phúc and Vietnamese localities for supporting the group’s operations and expressed hope to receive more assistance when investing in Hà Nội.
The PM later met with leaders of the Japan-Việt Nam Friendship Association (JVFA)’s chapters in Osaka, Hyogo, and Nara Prefectures and Sakai city.
At the meetings, Phúc recognised the chapters’ active contributions to the enhancement of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Leaders of the JVFA chapters said their organisations will closely coordinate with Việt Nam in hosting activities in celebration of the 45th founding anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties in Osaka and Kansai regions in 2018.
