HÀ NỘI — Chairwoman of the 13th National Assembly Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân was re-elected as the head of the 14th legislature during the body’s first session.
In a secret ballot held on Thursday, 483 out of 494 deputies, or 97.77 per cent, voted for Ngân. The results were announced on Friday.
In a solemn swearing-in ceremony, the NA Chairwoman pledged absolute loyalty to the fatherland, the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
She committed herself to doing her best to fulfil the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
As the head of the State’s most powerful organ, she promised to work with the NA Standing Committee and deputies of the 14th NA to effectively implement the NA’s constitutional and legislative functions as well as its function of making decisions on the country’s important issues and supreme supervisions over all activities of the State in compliance with regulations of the Constitution and laws.
“I will work with National Assembly deputies to continue making changes to increase the quality of the National Assembly’s operations to make it a united and creative National Assembly that acts for the interests of the people, for the honour and pride of the nation, and for the sustainable development of the country,” she said. — VNS
