HÀ NỘI — State President Lương Cường and his spouse, together with a high-ranking delegation of Việt Nam, will attend the High-level General Debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) and take part in bilateral activities in the US from September 21 to 24, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly – under the theme "Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights – will run for one year, reflecting the desire to promote international solidarity, multilateralism, peace, security, development and the protection of human rights.
The highlight of the session will be the High-Level Week from September 22 to 30, with the participation of leaders and senior officials from all 193 UN member states.
The 80th session takes place at a time when the United Nations celebrates its 80th anniversary. Observers expect the 80th session of the General Assembly, as the main policy-making body of the United Nations, to contribute to promoting organizational reform towards being more responsive, effective, transparent and responsive to global needs. — VNS
