HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính announced Việt Nam's goal to be among the world's top 30 to 35 largest economies by 2030 during a high-level meeting on Monday.

Chaired by the Prime Minister, the meeting focused on reviewing the country's progress in implementing the Socio-Economic Development Plan between 2021 and 2030.

Key government leaders, including several Deputy Prime Ministers and ministry officials, attended the meeting. Delegates presented feedback and suggestions for the draft report assessing the Plan's progress.

They highlighted achievements under the leadership of the Party, State, National Assembly and Government, while also addressing challenges and limitations as well as their underlying causes.

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính praised the valuable input from delegates and emphasised the importance of finalising the draft report to present at the upcoming 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Việt Nam.

He stressed that despite global challenges, Việt Nam has demonstrated resilience, innovation and decisive leadership, which has positioned the country for continued growth.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister underscored the need to focus on stability as a foundation for development, calling for synchronised innovation across all sectors.

He also emphasised the importance of strategic breakthroughs in key areas, particularly in improving the socialist-oriented market economy, fostering science and technology innovation and focusing on emerging sectors such as the green and digital economies.

The Prime Minister also outlined specific projects that will drive economic growth, including initiatives in digital transformation, green transition and clean energy development.

Infrastructure projects like the North-South high-speed railway and the HCM City-Cần Thơ railway were highlighted as key priorities, alongside plans to enhance national data centres and international financial and trade hubs. — VNS
