HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary, State President Tô Lâm chaired the second session of the sub-committee in charge of the personnel affairs for the 14th National Party Congress in Hà Nội on Wednesday.

The sub-committee gave opinions on a draft summary report on the personnel work of the 13th Party Central Committee and direction for personnel work of the 14th Party Central Committee and a submission to the Politburo on personnel work for the 14th-tenure Party Central Committee.

After the subcommittee discussed and commented on the draft documents, Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm, the personnel sub-committee’s head, highlighted the importance of personnel preparation work for the 14th Party Congress, saying that it must inherit the great and specific ideology and orientation of the late Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, former head of the subcommittee at the first session.

The summary personnel results of the 13th Party Central Committee must be taken as an important basis for building the personnel direction of the 14th Party Congress, he said.

Lâm requested that the Party Congress's personnel tasks must be taken urgently and cautiously, ensuring solidarity and unity within the Party. It must ensure the maintenance of the Party's leadership.

Personnel considered for selection must be officials with leadership capacity, professional qualifications and prestige among the people and within the Party. The personnel preparation process must ensure direct, comprehensive, regular, continuous, tight and democratic leadership of the Party Central Committee, Politburo, Secretariat, Party committees, he said.

“We must put the interests of the Party, the nation and the people first and foremost,” he said.

Noting that the task of the personnel subcommittee is particularly important and difficult, he asked subcommittee members to continue to spend time giving opinions on major tasks. — VNS
