HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội Opera House will host a concert featuring songs for children on November 9.

Love for Hà Nội – The Eleventh Edition, organised by the Hà Nội Music Association, aims to honour the valuable work of composers and rekindle love for their classic songs.

The first Love for Hà Nội was held in 2006 to introduce valuable works of composers who have contributed to the national establishment and the development of the country’s music industry. They are holders of prizes such as the State-level Award for Literature and Arts.

Each edition has a different theme. This year the theme is “Children and Peace.”

Chairman of the association, musician Trương Ngọc Ninh, will be the director of the programme. He said 25 songs written for children will be reworked to bring new vitality with performances from singer Thuỳ Chi, Muca’s Mashup band, Young Hit Young Beat Academy and Sao Tuổi Thơ Club.

“The songs we selected are popular and loved by children of different generations,” he said. “Everyone knows them. They are beloved childhood songs for many people.”

The programme is divided into four parts: Uncle Hồ with Children, Children’s Joy, Children at School and Children and Peace.

It features famous songs composed by Xuân Giao, Hàn Ngọc Bích, Hoàng Long, Hoàng Lân, Phạm Tuyên, Trọng Đài and Huy Du.

“While young people love to hear Western or Korean music, we want to bring them closer to songs of Vietnamese composers,” said Ninh. “We want to spread the beauty of these songs and enrich the souls of Vietnamese children.” — VNS
