HÀ NỘI — The Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD) will continue its “The Magic of Cinema” movie month with a screening of The Majestic on the night of Friday, January 27.
The romantic drama was produced and directed by Frank Darabont in 2001.
Set in the 1950s, the film tells the story of protagonist Pete (Jim Carrey), whose successful life as a rising Hollywood screenwriter is flipped on its head when his name is blacklisted in investigations of suspected communists. After a drunken car accident, he wakes with amnesia near a small town, where he’s mistaken for long-lost local boy Luke Trimble. Peter works with Luke’s deluded father (Martin Landau) and old sweetheart (Laurie Holden) to re-open the town’s movie theatre, and begins to question his identity.
The movie will be presented in original English language with Vietnamese subtitles. The screening will start at 7pm. Requested donations at the door from VNĐ20,000 per person. TPD is at 54 Trần Hưng Đạo Street, 4th floor. — VNS
