HÀ NỘI – A concert to conclude a series of works about legendary classical music composer Ludwig van Beethoven will take place at Hà Nội Opera House on December 16-18.
The series has been performed by Việt Nam National Symphony Orchestra since 2018, featuring Beethoven’s nine classical symphonies and some of his other works.
The Beethoven Cycle X concert aims to mark the 250th birthday anniversary of the celebrated composer.
Led by internationally acclaimed conductor Honna Tetsuji, the second part of the concert will feature Beethoven’s Symphony No 9, his last full symphony and also the best-known work in classical European music. Chapter 4 of the symphony has been the organisational anthem of the European Union since 1985.
The works will be performed by soprano Đào Tố Loan, alto Lê Vành Khuyên, tenor Park Sung Min and baritone Nguyễn Phúc Tiệp, in addition to other artists from the Việt Nam National Opera Ballet, Hà Nội Voice Choir, Hà Nội Freude Choir, Hà Nội Korean Women’s Choir, Hà Nội Korean Church Zion Choir, and special guest musicians from HCM City Balley Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO).
The previous concerts, Beethoven Cycle VIII and Beethoven Cycle IX, were held by Việt Nam National Symphony Orchestra on November 12 and 26 and tickets for two nights were all sold out.

Beethoven was born on December 17, 1770, in Bonn, Germany, into a family of artists. From a young age, he was taught to play various musical instruments by his father.
Throughout his life, he created a treasure of classical works and to this day is recognised worldwide as the greatest, most famous and influential composer of all time. VNS
