HCM CITY — More than 50 sculptures by 26 young artists from HCM City and Hà Nội are on display at an exhibition titled Điêu Khắc Sài Gòn-Hà Nội (Sài Gòn-Hà Nội Sculpture) at the HCM City Fine Arts Museum.

The works are in wood, glass, stone, aluminium, stainless steel and other materials. Some are two or more metres high.

Featured works made by Nguyễn Ngọc Lâm, Phạm Thái Bình and Trần Việt Hà symbolise hope for love and peace.

The museum worked with cultural authorities, including HCM City Fine Arts Association, to organise the showcase to encourage young artists to introduce their art to the public.

“Young sculptors face challenges in exhibiting their work because of the giant size of most of the works. Local authorities, museums and galleries should help them display their art. Public places and parks in big cities should have more sculptures," Trần Hoài Thanh, a visitor at the exhibition’s opening ceremony on Monday, said.

The exhibition is at the Fine Arts Museum at 97A Phó Đức Chính Street, District 1, until January 1. Entrance is free. — VNS
