HÀ NỘI — Singer Huong Giang, the Vietnamese representative competing at ‘Miss International Queen 2018’, will present an ornate national costume weighing a hefty 55kg at the transgender beauty pageant being held in Thailand.
The gilded costume, named “Golden Lotus” and designed by Ngô Mạnh Đông, has a unique floral design with all decorative details reflecting the unity, solidarity and strength of Việt Nam which are also the greatest characters of Vietnamese people.
It took 10 artisans a week to craft the outfit before Hương Giang flies to Thailand, the designer said.
Hương Giang is the first Vietnamese representative competing in an international transgender beauty pageant.
After arriving in Thailand on Saturday, she has participated in various activities.
Giang said on Monday – the second day of the contest – that she had already tried to get to know the other contestants.
The Vietnamese competitor, 27, from Hà Nội is 1.70 metres tall, weighs 52kg and measures 86-62-90.
The transgender singer has become well-known, drawing public attention after entering the top 4 of the Vietnam Idol 2012 singing contest. She was also named among the top 4 of Remix New Generation.
Miss International Queen – the world’s largest and most respected beauty pageant for international transvestites and transgenders – this year has attracted candidates from 28 countries all over the world.
According to the competition’s official website, the final round is scheduled for Pattaya, Thailand on March 9. — VNS
