HÀ NỘI – The Việt Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism has chosen the Khmer ethnic group as the theme for its activities in August.

A photo exhibition featuring the group’s costumes, daily life, religion and customs was opened in the village at the beginning of the month.

The Khmer group’s handicraft making and cuisine will be introduced every day until the end of the month, while musical performances and folk games will be on display at weekends.

Traditional rituals including Lễ Cơm Vắt (Phua Chum Bom) – a dedication to dead ancestors — will be held at the Khmer Temple inside the village complex on the morning of Saturday August 20.

The village continues to host homestay services for tourists visiting the Khmer, Tày, Mường, Thái, Ê Đê, Dao and Ba Na villages inside the complex.

The village is located in Sơn Tây District, 45km west of Hà Nội’s centre. — VNS
