HÀ NỘI — Artists from Việt Nam National Drama Theatre will take part in the World Festival of Children’s Performing Arts in Japan from July 31 to August 4.

Ten artists led by the theatre director Nguyễn Thế Vinh will perform and attend workshops at the festival.

Vietnamese artists will perform a play entitled Tên Trộm Gà Trống (The Cock) which is aimed at young audiences. The story tells of an affair between a mouse and a cockerel.

The play will be performed in Vietnamese with English and Japanese subtitles.

“This is the first time artists from the national theatre will attend the children festival in Japan,” said director Vinh. “It is important in popularising the national drama theatre of Việt Nam to international friends.”

“The festival will be a good opportunity for the artists to exchange professional experiences and get access to different performing styles”.

Artists including Meritorious Artist Lâm Tùng and People’s Artist Lệ Ngọc will take advantage of the opportunity to show and display Vietnamese culture and to promote mutual understanding thanks to their performance.

They are expected to join workshops to experience various kinds of art and culture and to have a chance at making friends.

With theme We Build the Future the festival highlights harmony, unity and beauty. The festival is for amateur performing arts for children or by children including theatre, ballet and music and any other artistic performances on the stage of theatre which is held every four years in Toyama Prefecture.

Việt Nam theatre is among 24 theatres around the world with 42 stage productions for kids including nine theatres from the host country with 16 works. — VNS
