Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Huế, Trương Đình Hạnh, stated that the event was organised to remember, acknowledge, and honor the contributions of Sơn - a talented son of Huế for Vietnamese contemporary music in general and for Huế in particular.

At the same time, the statue creates a highlight for the landscape and tourism of Huế.

The location of the statue of Sơn will also be a stopping point for admirers of the talent of the late musician to have the opportunity to learn more about his life and career, and where he composed his first songs.

The city is committed to continue completing Trịnh Công Sơn Park according to its plan, and to continue arranging the memorial artifacts of the late musician.

The statue is a work of art by the late sculptor Trương Đình Quế and is owned by Lê Hùng Mạnh, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Gia Hoà Construction and Trading Company.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Huế, in collaboration with the family of Trịnh Công Sơn, organised the art programme "Evening in My Hometown".
