Film screenings to celebrate national events

The movie screenings, which are conducted by the Cinematography Department, are to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the August Revolutionary (August 19), and Việt Nam’s Independent Day (September 2).

HÀ NỘI — A collection of five documentaries and animation movies will be presented widely to the public nationawide from Saturday.

The movie screenings, which are conducted by the Cinematography Department, are to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the August 1945 Revolutionary (August 19), and Việt Nam’s Independent Day (September 2).

The programme will present the documentary Những Bước Đi Ngoại Giao Và Một Cuộc Chiến Không Mong Muốn (The Diplomatic Steps and an Unexpected War) – a production by Vietkings Media JSC.

Centred on President Hồ Chí Minh, the movie is the following part of the documentary Hồ Chí Minh Năm 1946 (Hồ Chí Minh in 1946) that was presented to the public in February on the occasion of 80th anniversary of the “Outline of Vietnamese Culture” – the first platform on culture launched by the Communist Party of Việt Nam in 1943.

Audiences can learn more about the life and career of scientist Tạ Quang Bửu through the documentary movie Giáo Sư Tạ Quang Bửu - Nhà Khoa Học Yêu Nước (Prof Tạ Quang Bửu – A Patriotic Scientist) by the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio.

A former deputy minister of defence under General Võ Nguyên Giáp, Prof Bửu is the one who set the first foundation for Việt Nam’s military science and technology.

Another documentary, Những Người Giữ Hồn Đất (The People Who Keep the Soul of Soil) by Giải Phóng Film Studio, will also be screened.

Alongside the documentaries, the programme will introduce Giấc Mơ Làm Mẹ (The Motherhood Dream) a production by the Việt Nam Animation Studio (VAS).

A heart-touching story about motherhood, the film has nearly 1 million views on VAS’s official Youtube channel.

Junior film lovers can enjoy another animation film, Vượt Qua Đường Nước Đen (Crossing the Black Water Lane) by the Giải Phóng Film Studio.

The screening programme will take place at cinemas and cultural centres nationwide until September 5. — VNS
