HCM CITY — HCM City is holding a special music programme offering street performances outside the Opera House in District 1 as part of its efforts to entertain and attract locals and visitors.
The programme, called Tình Ca Đất Nước (Country Songs), includes shows by veteran and young singers, dancers and musicians from the HCM City Music Conservatory and art troupes.
The event will offer Vietnamese songs and music pieces designed in new concepts to give fresh experiences to audiences.
Revolutionary music by talented artists in different periods, such as composers Trần Hoàn, Doãn Tần and Phan Huỳnh Điểu, will be highlighted.
Pop star Nguyễn Phi Hùng, young singers Tùng Lâm, Duyên Quỳnh, and the girl band Mắt Ngọc will be featured.

“Our programme is part of the city’s strategic investment plan to develop its cultural space,” said a representative of the HCM City Music Association, one of the event’s organisers.
“We want to honour Vietnamese music and its artists who have worked to keep their art alive. We also hope locals and visitors will learn more about the country’s culture and lifestyle through our performances.”
The programme’s first 45-minute show highlighted revolutionary songs by singers Trương Quốc Lâm and Trịnh Bách Thuỷ of the city’s Music Conservatory to celebrate National Day on September 2.
They performed songs in praise of the country and soldiers composed by Lệ Giang and Văn An, leaving a strong impression on audiences.
The free street shows of Tình Ca Đất Nước are staged at 10am every Sunday outside the Opera House at 7 Lam Sơn Square, District 1. The programme is scheduled to close on December 25. – VNS
