HCM CITY — Connectivity is vital to fulfil the tourism potential of localities and develop more inter-regional travel products to attract tourists, provincial authorities have said.

Co-operation and linkages would help fully tap the tourism potential of individual localities and create more unique travel products, Phạm Ngọc Thủy, director of Quảng Ninh Province's Department of Tourism.

Quảng Ninh, Ninh Bình and Bình Định provinces have huge resources and potential for cultural and heritage, beach and leisure tourism, he told a conference on travel promotion and cooperation held in Cần Thơ City on Tuesday.

The three also have important geo-economic sites, he said.

Co-operation and integration are considered a crucial strategy to boost tourism in the three provinces, he said.

The Mekong Delta is one of their most promising markets, he added.

Nguyễn Thực Hiện, deputy chairman of the Cần Thơ City People’s Committee, said travel linkage programmes between the delta and other parts of the country helped build on the former’s reputation as a destination of spiritual, ecological and MICE (meeting, incentive, convention, exhibition) tourism.

The tourism tie-up between the delta and the three provinces is expected to help boost the travel market, he said.

The delta received around 30 million visitor arrivals in the first eight months of this year, he said.

Hà Văn Siêu, deputy director general of Việt Nam National Administration of Tourism, said localities needed to coordinate to organise regular tourism promotion activities at home and abroad and strengthen travel information exchange.
