HCM CITY — The VMARK Vietnam design week and awards organised by VDAS Design Association will be back in March this year in HCM City.

The second time the event will be organised after the first two years ago, it will have a mission of building a world-class creative design community.

It will serve as a platform to honour initiatives that support the design community in building a Việt Nam design identity recognised throughout the world.

It will bring together and honour talented designers.

“With the aim of planning and developing national design strategies, we support the creative design community’s efforts to redefine the image of the country to the world and build a creative economy in Viet Nam,” chairman of VDAS Design Association’s HCM City unit, Hồ Tấn Dương, said.

Many training programmes and workshops will be organised before and during the event.

One of them, a conference titled ‘The power of creative entrepreneurship,’ was held late last week and attracted hundreds of design and branding experts.

The experts shared their experiences and explained how to have effective creative entrepreneurship and how to develop branding.

They narrated successful stories of taking Vietnamese products to the world.

They said the creative design industry gets much attention globally because it drives nations’ branding strategies.

In addition to lowering product costs and processing orders from global companies, Vietnamese companies should move to quickly strengthen their innovation and further invest in branding and product design to increase added value and competitiveness, they added.

The conference, organised by VDAS Design Association, the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre and ConceptD Company, was shown live on eight TV channels and was attended by over 1,000 foreigners and Vietnamese on livestream.

“With the mission of developing the creative design industry, we help connect creators from various sectors like furniture, architecture, wooden-based products and decoration, design, graphics, and fashion,” Dương added. — VNS
