HCM CITY — The People’s Committee of the southern coastal province of Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu has removed seven land parcels from its auction plans for Côn Đảo this year.

Nguyễn Văn Thọ, it chairman, announced the decision following a meeting with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment on November 9.

Land is scarce on the island and needs to be carefully managed for later use, he said.

The committee in September approved the auction of 18 public land parcels measuring more than 60 hectares for an estimated VNĐ5 trillion (US$214.6 million).

The seven public land lots covering nearly five hectares will be used for commercial and tourism purposes if they are auctioned. —VNS
