THANH HÓA — A US$1 billion project was started on Monday in the northern seaside province of Thanh Hóa by Sun Group, one of Việt Nam's largest real-estate developers.
The 550-hectare project consists of a massive plaza, pedestrian streets, hotel and resort complexes and recreational facilities.
"The Sầm Sơn project is part of Sun Group's long-term development strategy to transform Sầm Sơn City and Thanh Hóa Province into a tourism centre of Việt Nam," said a representative of the group.
The construction of the plaza and pedestrian streets in Sầm Sơn City are set to be completed in the first quarter of 2022. A 60-metre tall monument is to built at the centre of the plaza as a new symbol for the city.
Tourists may take part in numerous recreational and festive activities in the plaza to experience local traditions and culture. Sun Group said it has also been working on a plan to develop an ecocity luxury complex for international tourists. — VNS
