HCM CITY — IT giant FPT Corporation and Minh Phú Seafood Corporation, the country’s largest seafood company, signed a strategic agreement and digital transformation consultancy contract in HCM City on Tuesday.

Under the agreement, FPT and Minh Phú will focus on building a digital transformation roadmap to optimise the latter’s operating process, minimise costs and improve production capacity to enable it become one of the leading seafood technology companies in the world.

FPT will apply the digital transformation methodology of FPT Digital Kaizen that is drawn from practical experience when it helped companies around the world achieve digital transformation.

Việt Nam’s shrimp exports currently account for less than 10 per cent of global market share, but Minh Phú alone accounts for around 4 per cent of global exports.

Lê Văn Quang, chairman of the company, said its strategic goal is to achieve 25 per cent by 2045.

To achieve this goal, the urgent tasks are to automate its production process, create a big data strategy for the industry, synchronise information from all its operations, and adopt traceability technology, among others, he said.

“Minh Phú is one of the leading shrimp processing firms in the world and is growing strongly.

“Minh Phú wants to achieve a breakthrough development, and so it must change, and digital transformation is the inevitable way.

“We have worked with many of the world's major technology corporations, but the solutions they offer are not in line with our company practices.

“We needed a capable consultant who understands the operations of Vietnamese businesses, especially in the seafood sector, and is ready to go with Minh Phú in the journey of digitisation.”
