HCM CITY — New-age carrier Vietjet is giving away 670,000 promotional tickets priced from zero đồng between now and Friday in a move to celebrate its two newest international routes. 

The promotional fares are available at www.vietjetair.com and are applied for all the airline’s international routes and Thai Vietjet’s local route for flights from May 14 to December 31.

The two new routes, connecting HCM City to Tokyo (Japan) and Nha Trang to Busan (South Korea), aim to connect the popular tourism cities, meeting the moving and demands of local people and tourists and promoting regional trade and integration, Vietjet said.

The HCM City – Tokyo route will operate daily return flights starting on July 12. The flight departs from HCM City at 12.05am and arrives at Tokyo at 8am (local time). The return flight takes off from Tokyo at 9am (local time) and lands in HCM City at 1.05pm.

Meanwhile, Vietjet will provide four return flights per week on the Nha Trang – Busan route from July 16. The flight departs from Nha Trang at 11.50pm and arrives at Busan at 6.30am (local time). The return flight takes off from Busan at 8.05am and lands in Nha Trang at 10.45am.

Following recent controversy, Vietjet said on Wednesday that it has yet to operate any flights with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

“We are currently operating with a fleet entirely composed of new Airbus aircraft from the A320 family. The average age of our fleet is 2.82 years. We are also using the latest generation of Airbus aircraft, A320-A321 neo,” Vietjet said in a statement.

“The safety of our passengers is always Vietjet’s highest priority and the airline is closely monitoring the Boeing 737 MAX case and our decisions related to these aircraft will be made after the official conclusions and guidelines of the world’s aviation authorities and the Civil Aviation Authority of Việt Nam (CAAV).”

According to Vietjet, the airline is doing this to ensure the development of its modern fleet and to meet the highest quality and safety standards.

Vietjet’s operations have met the highest international standards with regard to safety and maintenance. In particular, the airline has complied with all of the regulations and met the latest standards which have been set out by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States (FAA) and the CAAV, including the approval of aircraft types in operation. — VNS
