HÀ NỘI — The southern province of Bình Thuận recently decided to revoke eight tourism projects in Hàm Thuận Nam District due to delayed implementation.

Those included four projects in Tân Thành Commune and four in Thuận Quý Commune.

The provincial authority said that it could not contact the investors of these projects.

Previously, the provincial Department of Planning and Investment proposed 20 projects to be revoked in the southern province, including eight projects in Phan Thiết City and 12 projects in Hàm Thuận Nam District.

The department said that strong measures would be taken to revoke stagnant projects and prevent land from being left deserted.

Other projects would continue to be checked for updates on their implementation progress.

The provincial Department of Planning and Investment’s statistics revealed that as of July 20, more than 100 tourism projects had not started construction in the province.

The department said that the stagnation was mainly due to problems in land clearance.

Bình Thuận has rich potential for sea tourism with nearly 200 kilometres of coastline and a warm climate all year round. It has plentiful tourist attractions such as Mũi Né, Phú Quý Island and Kê Gà Lighthouse.

In the Việt Nam tourism development master plan to 2020, Bình Thuận was recognised as one of the key provinces for the country’s tourism development.

Hàm Thuận Nam District has beautiful beaches and attracted a large number of tourism projects.

The development of transport infrastructure in recent years has also helped boost tourism in the province, such as the HCM City – Long Thành – Dầu Giây Expressway, upgrades to the Dầu Giây – Phan Thiết and Phan Thiết – Nha Trang highways, and Phan Thiết airport. — VNS
