HÀ NỘI — The State Bank of Việt Nam (SVB) has awarded a certificate of merit and commemorative medals to Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Việt Nam leaders and managers.

The awards were presented by Deputy Governor of SVB Nguyễn Đồng Tiến yesterday to Jochem Lange, Country Director of GIZ Việt Nam, at a ceremony held on Friday in Hà Nội, recognising the bank for its outstanding contribution to the banking co-operation between Việt Nam and Germany.

Within the co-operation framework between the two governments, which is ongoing since 1993, the German government through GIZ has continuously provided programmes and projects to support the development of Việt Nam’s banking sector in the context of economic transformation and comprehensive international integration.

GIZ has been proactively co-operating and supporting SBV in the establishment of legal and institutional frameworks required for implementing its state management functions and ensuring sound and effective operation of the banking system, according to a report from the SBV.

Prominent examples are the Law on State Bank of Việt Nam, Law on Credit Institutions, monetary policy and its instruments, in particular, open market operation instrument, anti-dollarisation strategy internal audit and internal control framework for commercial banks, the report says. — VNS
