HÀ NỘI — Insurer Manulife has announced that a contribution of over VNĐ2.6 billion (nearly US$106,000) from a company-wide matching donation programme has been given to a Typhoon Yagi relief fund.

Out of the company's total donation, VNĐ2 billion was allocated to the Việt Nam Fatherland Front to facilitate relief and recovery activities post-typhoon. The remaining funds will be used to purchase essential supplies, which will be directly distributed to people in affected regions.

For every donation made by the firm's employees and agents, Manulife has committed to matching it to amplify the power of sharing, the company said in a statement.

In response to the challenges faced by communities affected by Typhoon Yagi, Manulife Vietnam launched a fundraising campaign on September 12. The campaign encourages employees and agents from across its distribution channels to come together in supporting those affected by the disaster.

To amplify its impact, Manulife pledged to match all donations collected from its employees and agents, thereby doubling the overall contribution to relief efforts.

In addition to the VNĐ2.6 billion raised through the campaign, Manulife Vietnam's agents also donated over VNĐ500 million for immediate relief efforts and the provision of supplies to the hardest-hit areas following Typhoon Yagi.

Tina Nguyễn, CEO of Manulife Vietnam, said: “Sharing humanity is one of the core values that Manulife has always upheld. We hope that our contributions will ignite hope and help alleviate some of the burdens faced by individuals in provinces and cities severely impacted by natural disasters.”

In addition to the fundraising initiative, Manulife's employees and agents have been reaching out to customers in the affected regions to provide necessary support.

Manulife Vietnam is also working closely with relevant authorities to locate and verify information about customers impacted by Yagi and its aftermath to ensure timely assistance. The company is committed to expediting insurance payouts for affected customers in the event of any insurance claims. — VNS
