HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam Railways (VNR) has officially connected and sold train tickets via e-wallets Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay.

From Tuesday customers, especially international visitors, could easily buy tickets online and pay by bank card.

A VNR representative said that in the past, international visitors bought train tickets through agents such as travel agencies, tourism and travel websites as VNR websites were not allowed to pay directly with cards issued by banks abroad.

VNR officially opened the payment gateway for international cards issued by banks abroad through the VNPAY payment gateway from August 1.

International visitors can easily book tickets directly and pay abroad, without needing to go through an agent.

The VNR representative added that along with opening the direct payment portal, the railway recently installed automatic train ticket vending machines at domestic tourist destinations such as Nha Trang Post Office, HCM City Post Office, Đà Lạt Railway Station, Quảng Nam Tourist Support Centre, Hội An City.

The automatic train ticket vending machine has a large screen, friendly interface and the languages used are Vietnamese and English.

Residents and tourists can easily perform operations such as selecting ticket information, payment methods and making payment transactions following instructions.

This device helps save waiting time when queuing to look up information, buy train tickets during peak periods, and reduce risks when using cash.

In addition, it also helps passengers proactively choose the type of seat and location on the train, buy multiple trips, across different routes and use additional incentives to save costs. — VNS
