Revenue from cybersecurity sector up 33 per cent in Q1

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) recently reported positive results for the cybersecurity sector in the first quarter of 2023.

Specifically, the sector posted revenue of VNĐ252.8 billion (US$10.6 million) during the period, an increase of 33.5 per cent year-on-year, resulting in a growth of 33.1 per cent to VNĐ20.22 billion.

It contributed VNĐ21.8 billion to the State budget, up 50.6 per cent over the same period last year.  

According to the ministry, there are 103 cybersecurity enterprises operating in the industry during the period, a rise of 12 per cent on-year, creating 3,492 jobs, up 10.6 per cent. And the rate of domestic to foreign earnings reduced by 10.1 per cent to 45.1 per cent.

By the end of February, the total number of issued public digital certificates jumped 23.18 per cent to nearly 5.87 million. Of which, the active ones rose 17.89 per cent to approximately 1.9 million in February alone.

Its digital certificate status maintaining fees contributed an accumulated value of VNĐ10.79 billion to the State budget since the beginning of the year.

In the second quarter of 2023, MIC plans to create strategies to fulfill information security platforms for users both in Việt Nam and foreign countries.

It also cooperates with the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment to complete the Law on Electronic Transactions and implement other tasks according to the guidance document No 652 in 2023. — VNS
