THANH HÓA — The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2022 of central Thanh Hóa Province is estimated to reach 12.51 per cent, ranking seventh nationwide.
According to the provincial People's Committee, Thanh Hóa's GRDP statistics have exceeded the target, which is 11.5 per cent.
Thanh Hóa’s GRDP ranking stays behind six other localities - Khánh Hòa, Bắc Giang, Đà Nẵng, Hậu Giang, Hưng Yên and Cần Thơ.
The provincial Party Committee said local authorities performed 2022 tasks in the context of opportunities and challenges.
The provincial Party Committee has upheld solidarity among Party committees at all levels, authorities and people and strengthened leadership and administration responsibilities at provincial and grassroots levels.
The confidence of the business community and people in the province's growth has been consolidated.
Thanh Hóa's achievements were also made thanks to the Central government's support and the drastic, creative, flexible and effective leadership of the provincial Party Committee, People's Council, provincial People's Committee, all-level Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front and mass organisations.
The consensus and support of the business community and all classes of people in the province are other sources of motivation for the province's growth.
The province has made several significant achievements in socio-economy, national defence-security, construction and rectification of the Party and the political system in 2022. As many as 24 of 26 major targets have been achieved and exceeded the plan.
Thanh Hóa Province's growth rate is among the top seven localities nationwide. Meanwhile, State budget collection has reached the highest level ever, estimated at VNĐ48.82 trillion (US$2.17 billion), exceeding 65 per cent of the estimate, an increase of 20 per cent over the same period last year.
GRDP per capita is estimated at $2,924, exceeding 4.42 per cent of the plan. Total food production reached nearly 1.6 million tonnes, up 3.6 per cent compared to the target.

Total capital mobilisation for development investment was estimated at VNĐ138.9 trillion ($6.2 billion), equaling 95.8 per cent of the plan and increasing by 0.9 per cent over the same period last year.
Thanh Hóa Province has attracted 60 direct investment projects, including seven Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects with registered investment capital of VNĐ4.8 trillion ($213.3 million) and $71.2 million.
In 2022, 3,600 new enterprises were established, exceeding 20 per cent of the plan and increasing by 12.28 per cent over the same period last year.
Thanh Hóa Province has successfully hosted many significant political and cultural events with strong effects, creating a positive public impression.
Progress has been made in culture - society while the province continues to be among the leading localities nationwide in spearheading education and high-achievement sports.
The province has also paid attention to social security policies, especially for people living on rivers, areas with a high risk of landslides, policy families, and those in difficult circumstances.
Big projects to be completed
2023 holds significant meaning as it is in the middle term of implementing the 13th National Party Congress Resolution, the 19th Provincial Party Congress' Resolution, and the five-year socio-economic development plan from 2021 to 2025. It will serve as a foundation year for accomplishing targets set out by the congresses.
In that context, Thanh Hóa Province promotes the tradition of solidarity and self-reliance and never stays satisfied with the achieved results.
Local authorities will be proactive, flexible, and creative with great determination, great efforts, and drastic and effective actions to complete and exceed 27 primary targets in socio-economy, defence – security and Party construction in 2023.
The province sets the GRDP target at 11 per cent or more in 2023.
The per capita income target is over $3,200, while State budget collection is expected to be more than VNĐ35.34 trillion ($1.6 billion).
Local authorities will focus on removing obstacles and speeding up projects, including Đức Giang Chemical Factory, Sea Square and Sầm Sơn festival landscape, Sun Beauty Onsen Thanh Hóa's hot mineral resort, Tân Dân eco-tourism resort and urban area, Nghi Sơn Town.
The province will implement the provincial master plan for the 2021-30 period, with a vision to 2045, after having it approved by the Prime Minister.
Local authorities will apply specific mechanisms and policies for the province's development following Resolution No 37/2021/QH15 dated November 13, 2021, of the National Assembly, significantly increasing revenue from export and import activities through Nghi Sơn Seaport.
