HCM CITY — Sài Gòn Alcohol, Beer and Beverages Corporation (SABECO) has been named among the Top 50 Listed Companies in Việt Nam by Forbes Vietnam for the fourth year in a row.

This year SABECO continued to make it onto the reputable ranking, underlining the sustainable development strategies of one of the country’s largest groups.

The 9th Forbes Vietnam list of 50 Best Listed Companies recorded a new record of growth in after-tax profit. The total after-tax profit of the listed companies reached VNĐ174.5 trillion, up 25.8 per cent compared to the list announced last year. In the context that the economy was negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, causing production and business activities to be halted, Việt Nam's main export markets also suffered a decrease in purchasing power, such results partly showed the businesses’ resilience.

US business magazine Forbes Vietnam applied its global ranking method to compile the list but also took into consideration the characteristics of the Vietnamese market.

Voting criteria are based on the results of three rigorous screening rounds. The preliminary round selects companies with a good business situation, stable listing on HOSE and HNX, market capitalisation and revenue of over VNĐ500 billion. The next round of assessment is based on metrics like compounded annual growth rate, return on equity, return on capital, and earnings per share in 2016-20.

Besides, companies also have to satisfy criteria like sustainable development, their position in the industry, profit sources, governance quality, and industry development prospects.

By the end of May, SABECO’s total revenue was VNĐ27.9 trillion, after-tax profit of VNĐ4.7 trillion and market capitalisation of VNĐ107.1 trillion.

After the ownership change, SABECO - a famous beer brand of Saigon with a history of hundreds of years of development, took on a new look and developed more actively and dynamically.

With a long history of 145 years serving Vietnamese people, SABECO has continuously promoted positive and sustainable factors, bringing Việt Nam's beverage industry to an international level. It has constantly been striving to improve the world-class quality of its products and continuously launched new initiatives to bring value to the community, spreading Vietnamese culture to friends worldwide.

SABECO has adopted a sustainable development model to guide its long-term strategy and its quest to continue bringing pride to Việt Nam, through an approach referred to as the company’s 4C commitment – consumption, conservation, country, and culture.
