Our country is entering an important phase in the campaign to combat the acute Covid-19 epidemic. Almost every area of life is seriously affected by the outbreak. Such damage, however, cannot measure up to the dedication and sacrifice of the doctors and medical staff who are on the frontline of the combat against the epidemic.

Images of the medical workers who risk their own safety to work in quarantine stations, hospitals and laboratories; or of the volunteers who take quick naps in the yard of the isolation area after hours, have inspired citizens and left profound impressions on the community.

In appreciation of such devotion, VUS is committed to aiding individuals and frontline units to combat the disease through the campaign "Accompanying doctors and medical staff in the fight against Covid-19".

Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health and VUS sign the memorandum.

In an effort to support those medical workers who serve on the frontline during this crucial combat, VUS is offering their family members, as well as themselves, 1,000 comprehensive scholarships for any VUS programs, which can be claimed once the outbreak is over.

VUS also offers 1,000 English scholarships to people who serve in the fight against the epidemic.

In response to the great demands of medical protective equipment in the race against the pandemic, VUS teachers and staff unanimously switched to using antibacterial fabric masks while donating 10,000 surgical masks to the following medical units: Emergency Center 115, Disease Control Center, Ho Chi Minh City (HCDC) and Hospital of Tropical Diseases, HCMC, all of which were delivered by VUS representatives to each unit on March 31st.

Mr. Luu Quoc Khang, Director of VUS's School Services, offers a mask to Dr. Nguyen Duy Long, Director of Emergency Center 115.

After meeting with three top-level medical units of HCM City & learning about the shortage of specialised masks for the teams, VUS immediately liaised with international partners to import 10,000 N95 masks for doctors and nurses who are directly involved in medical examinations and treatment for patients with Covid-19. More than ever, national attention and encouragement is being directed to the frontline anti-epidemic combat team in the hope that the epidemic will end and Viet Nam will soon return to being a safe and healthy country.

Ms. Le Quang Thuc Quynh, CEO of VUS, said: “Having to face so many sudden changes in the current situation, we choose to focus on what we are capable of doing best: ensuring the quality of each class, providing free revision programmes for students and contributing to volunteer programmes that support the frontline in the battle against the epidemic. The campaign "Accompanying doctors and medical staff"  is part of such efforts. This is a gesture of mental support to express our gratitude to the HCM City medical teams, doctors and health workers, to raise their spirits in the tough fight against this catastrophe. Through the campaign, VUS team also wishes to spread the spirit of love and sharing to its students."

While the whole country is coping with the complications of the SARS-Cov-2 epidemic, VUS has launched an online teaching programme, with 49,988 classes having been implemented to help maintain learning habits and create a regular environment for students to practice English, as well as retaining positive energy for teachers.
