HCM CITY — The American International Hospital (AIH) in HCM City and Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHI) signed an agreement in HCM City on December 4 to extend their cooperation towards standardising the former’s healthcare services quality and improving treatment efficiency following American standards.

As of today, AIH is the only hospital in Việt Nam that JHI, the US’s leading medical system, collaborates with and supports.

The two first entered into partnership in July 2018. With JHI’s support and advisory on quality and patient safety, clinical care, clinical operation, infection control, and international patient referrals to Johns Hopkins hospital and health system, AIH has made advances in its healthcare services and clinical training.

During the upcoming period of cooperation, JHI will continue to support and advise the AIH in key areas such as optimising patient care processes and transferring knowledge and advanced techniques from its system through the JHI team trips to the hospital or remote consultation.

The cooperation will initially impact the AIH’s key departments such as obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics-newborns, general surgery, and gastroenterology-hepatology.

Laurent Moreau, vice president for global Initiatives at JHI, said extending the contract will allow it to continue to support and advise the AIH as it continues on its journey to enhance its medical training, quality of care and operations, which always focus on the safety of patients first.

“Through our collaboration, we hope that more patients and families in Việt Nam will have access to high-quality health care locally,” he said.

Also on the occasion, AIH announced that after four years of operation, the hospital achieved Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation in November 2022. The standard is the leading international standard system applied for non-US hospitals focusing on patient safety and healthcare quality.

Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Linh, AIH’s CEO, said achieving JCI accreditation and continuing to sign a cooperation agreement with Johns Hopkins Medicine International are a testament to the efforts made by the hospital’s whole system in its commitment to providing customers with safe healthcare services and affirming its mission to bring quality medical services at American standards to patients and families in Việt Nam. — VNS
