VN to compete at Brazil’s ISSF World Cup

Three Vietnamese shooters will compete at the 2016 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Brazil to be held on April 15-24.

HÀ NỘI — Three Vietnamese shooters will compete at the 2016 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Brazil to be held on April 15-24.

Hoàng Xuân Vinh and Trần Quốc Cường will compete in the men’s 10m air pistol and 50m pistol respectively, while Nguyễn Duy Hoàng will participate in the men’s 50m rifle.

According to the ISSF ranking, Vinh is ranked No 5 and Cường is No 13 in the men’s 50m pistol category. In the 10m air pistol category, Vinh is world No 8 and Cường is world No 19.

At the recently held World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand, Vinh bagged a bronze medal after gaining 108.1 points in the men’s 10m air pistol to come third.

Vinh and his teammate Cường earned Việt Nam its first two official places at the 2016 Olympic Games, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this summer, following their success at the 51st ISSF World Championships in Spain. – VNS
