HÀ NỘI –– Vietnamese airports are estimated to have served 106 million passengers and handled nearly 1.5 million tonnes of cargo during 2018, up 12.9 per cent and 7.7 per cent year-on-year respectively, reported the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
Vietnamese airlines transported more than 50 million passengers and nearly 400,000 tonnes of goods, representing increases of 14 per cent and 26 per cent compared to the previous year.
At present, the Vietnamese aviation market has the participation of 68 foreign airlines from 25 countries and territories and the four local carriers Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific Airlines and Vasco.
The 68 foreign and three of the Vietnamese carriers (except Vasco) operate nearly 130 international routes linking Hà Nội, HCM City, Đà Nẵng, Nha Trang, Phú Quốc and Hải Phòng with 28 countries and territories around the world.
Meanwhile, the four local airlines are running 48 domestic routes from Hà Nội, HCM City and Đà Nẵng to 18 local airports.
In 2017, local airports served over 94 million passengers, up 16 per cent over the previous year. They saw 661,165 flights take off and land during the year, a rise of 10 per cent year-on-year. –– VNS
