HCM City – Telemor, Viettel’s subsidiary in Timor-Leste, on July 30 became the first mobile service provider in the country to offer 4G services.

The 4G coverage extends to all 13 provinces in the country.

This is the seventh international market out of its 11 where Viettel offers 4G services and also the first where the military-owned company has brought its own 4G equipment for installation.

Though it only recently began manufacture of telecom equipment, the company aims to produce all core components in the near future.

Telecom service providers usually buy their equipment from the five big global producers, but have to pay a very high price.

By producing itself, Viettel can ensure adequate supply of equipment for all its 11 markets.

Telemor, currently the leading mobile service provider in Timor-Leste, won the International Business Award in the “Startup of the year” category in 2014, and the "Fastest Growing Company of the Year in Asia, Australia and New Zealand" category the next year. – VNS
