HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội 2018 Open Dragon Boat Rowing Festival will be held on Saturday on West Lake in Hà Nội.

The event will feature 27 teams consisting of more than 400 rowers from Hà Nội and northern provinces of Hải Dương, Hưng Yên and Thái Nguyên.

Rowers will compete in two categories – standard dragon boat and traditional dragon boat. Each category features men’s, women’s and mixed doubles on the 600-metre event.

Total prize money of VNĐ100 million (US$4,300) is up for grabs.

The festival, which will take place from 10am to 3pm at the section alongside Thanh Niên Road, will begin with a march of rowers, who will also perform demonstrations of some water sport games.

Organised by the Hà Nội People’s Committee and Vietnam Airlines, the event aims to preserve the folk sport game and to develop it into a tourist product. — VNS
