HCM CITY — Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post has listed the underground guerrilla warfare tunnels in HCM City’s suburban district of Củ Chi among the top seven tunnel tours in the world.
Located some 70km north-west of HCM City, the Củ Chi Tunnels are an enduring symbol of the Việt Nam War. The 250-kilometre-long complex was built in the late 1940s and underwent intense bombardment by the Americans in the 1960s.
Today the tunnels are preserved as a war memorial and attract millions of visitors every year.
Last year the Củ Chi Tunnels were eighth out of the top 25 Asian landmarks voted for by TripAdvisor travellers.
