The makeover of Trịnh Công Sơn near West Lake in Hà Nội into a walking-only street has been put off by two months to coincide with the day to mark the 63rd anniversary of Hà Nội’s liberation, October 10.

It was scheduled to open to the public on August 19. The launch of the pedestrian street is part of efforts to meet the demand for weekend entertainment from local and international tourists.

Trịnh Công Sơn Street, named after one of Việt Nam’s most beloved musicians who died in 2001, from Lạc Long Quân Alley 612 to Âu Cơ Alley 431 will be off-limits fo vehicles from 7.30pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It will have an outdoor stage for music shows featuring the Sơn’s songs and traditional art performances. There will be some 60 booths selling food and souvenirs.—VNS
