QUẢNG NINH — The ninth National Sports Games' (NSG) opening ceremony will be held at 8 pm tonight in Hạ Long City, Quảng Ninh Province.

The event, which takes place at the Sun Carnival Hạ Long Square, will feature around 11,000 participants, including sports people and residents.

The opening ceremony will have three chapters entitled: Việt Nam Khát vọng (Việt Nam Aspiration); Hội Tụ và Lan Tỏa (Convergence and Spreading) and Vì Một Việt Nam Cường Thịnh (For a Strong and Prosperous Việt Nam).

During the two-hour ceremony, about 1,000 artists will perform, portraying the "Dynamic - Creative - Generous - Civilized - Friendly" temperament of the people of Quảng Ninh. The province and its residents always welcome friends to their land.

The opening ceremony will be aired live on VTV1 channel and Quảng Ninh Television QTV1.

The 2022 NSG, which runs from December 9-21, is the largest domestic largest sports event in history and will feature more than 17,000 people, including more than 10,000 athletes from 63 cities and provinces, as well as the military and Public Security.

They compete in 43 sports, 21 of which are hosted by Quảng Ninh, which also takes charge of all ceremonies.

So far, seven sports have been held in the province since November 26. Diving, basketball, beach handball and pencak silat have finished, while men's and women's football, and volleyball are ongoing.

Beach volleyball, golf, archery, taekwondo, wushu, fencing, badminton, Vovinam, chess, Chinese chess, dance sport, triathlon, shuttle-cock kicking and Lion-dragon dances will begin after the opening ceremony. — VNS
