HÀ NỘI — A training course was held for volunteers for the ninth National Sports Games from December 9-21 in Quảng Ninh Province.

The course was organised by the Information and Communication Subcommittee at the NSG's Main Press Centre in the Quảng Ninh Museum on December 8 in Hạ Long.

The volunteers were selected students from universities and colleges in Quảng Ninh and Hải Dương provinces.

During the training, they were given information about the history of the NSG, and targets and achievements of Việt Nam's sports through the years. They learned about a how the Games are non-smoking and how to guide people to follow regulations. And the most important tasks were their responsibilities and duties during the two-week event.

Volunteers are also expected to help spread love of sports to people in addition to their main task of supporting the Games.

According to Lý Đức Thuỳ, deputy head of the subcommittee, volunteers played a key role in organising activities. At international events, they are ambassadors spreading Việt Nam's image to the world. In domestic Games, they are effective assistants for organisers while introducing the hosts to participating cities and provinces.

“In this NSG, we hope the volunteers will help to spread the sport practising movement and love of sport to all people. It is a great way to improve people's health and their life quality and a way to support national sport development," said Thùy. VNS
