253 domestic COVID-19 cases confirmed on Friday

Việt Nam reported a total of 254 new COVID-19 cases on Friday including one imported case and 253 domestic infections.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam reported a total of 254 new COVID-19 cases on Friday including one imported case and 253 domestic infections.

Of the domestic cases, 176 are in Bắc Giang Province, 33 in Bắc Ninh Province, 25 in HCM City, 10 in Lạng Sơn Province, four in Hà Nội, one in Thái Bình Province, one in Long An Province, one in Hải Dương Province, one in Hưng Yên Province and one in Hà Nam Province.

The imported case is a 41-year-old Vietnamese man returning from Malaysia on flight QH3324, arriving in Cần Thơ Airport on May 6. He was quarantined upon arrival and now is at Vĩnh Long Province’s Lung Hospital.

At noon, 40 new domestic cases were reported including 23 in Bắc Giang, 13 in Bắc Ninh, one in Hải Dương, one in Hưng Yên, one in Hà Nam and one in Hà Nội. All of them were previously quarantined.

Earlier, 40 new domestic cases were also reported in the morning. Thirty of them were in Bắc Giang, eight in Lạng Sơn, one in Thái Bình and one in Long An. They are all in quarantined areas.

Meanwhile, on Friday evening, the Health Ministry confirmed 123 cases in Bắc Giang, 25 in HCM City, three in Hà Nội and two in Lạng Sơn.

The new cases in Hà Nội were all those having contact with previously confirmed cases and are in quarantined areas.

In Bắc Ninh, 14 cases related to Thuận Thành cluster, four related to the Khắc Niệm cluster and two cases were related to Bắc Giang Province’s industrial parks.

In HCM City, 21 cases related to the Christian church cluster while the other four cases have not had their sources of infection identified.

All the new cases in Bắc Giang Province were in quarantined areas or locked down ones as they linked to workers of local industrial parks.

So far, Viet Nam has confirmed a total of 5,077 domestic and 1,493 imported cases, with the number of infections reported since April 27 when the fourth coronavirus wave hit the country has hit  3,507.

As of Friday, the total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in Việt Nam was 2,896.
