HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and Chairman of the Hà Nội People’s Committee Chu Ngọc Anh on Saturday cut the ribbon to put the interchange connecting Belt Road No 3 and the Hà Nội-Hải Phòng Expressway into operation.

The interchange, located in the districts of Long Biên and Gia Lâm, has two routes: a 1.5km stretch linking Long Biên-Thạch Bàn with the expressway, and another 620m stretch connecting Belt Road No 3 and the expressway.

The project is expected to shorten travel times on the route and fully exploit the investment efficiency of Belt Road No 3, the Hà Nội-Hải Phòng Expressway and Cổ Linh Road.

This will help ease traffic congestion and boost the city’s socio-economic development, Anh said, asking that the transport department get ready to plant trees on the land area between the lanes of the interchange, along with managing the lighting system and other components from the investors.

The project, with investment of more than VNĐ402 billion (US$17.5 million), began on January 6 last year.

Phạm Hoàng Tuấn, Director of the Hà Nội Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board, said despite the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, after 12 months of tireless work, the project was completed two months ahead of schedule. — VNS
