ĐÀ NẴNG — An 89-year-old woman, a heroic Vietnamese mother, from Đà Nẵng City’s Hải Châu District, has contributed VNĐ5 million (over US$210) to help combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The mother Lê Thị Chi said this was the amount of money which was given to by her relatives on New Year festivals, adding that she hopes to make a small contribution to support doctors and pandemic prevention forces to fight against the disease.
"I'm very happy when I heard that my mother intended to contribute money to fight against the epidemic. I don't know how much money she saved but my family supports her work," said Trần Thị Thu, Chi's daughter.
Thu said her mother often goes to hospital for health check-ups because she is old but she is willing to do charitable work whenever she has money.
The local authorities in Thanh Bình Ward came to visit her home and thanked for her donation and also called on local people to support the pandemic prevention.
