Eight to be prosecuted for drug trafficking

The Supreme People's Procuracy has decided to prosecute eight suspects for their involvement in the illegal trafficking of nearly 100kg of drugs.

HÀ NỘI — The Supreme People's Procuracy has decided to prosecute eight suspects for their involvement in the illegal trafficking of nearly 100kg of drugs.

The accused include Trần Văn Cường; Trần Thị Lệ Chi; Vũ Quang Trung; Phạm Thị Bình and Nguyễn Thị Huệ and Trần Văn Thình who reside in HCM City, Phạm Duy Minh, a resident from Tiền Giang Province’s Mỹ Tho City and Đồng Dương Nam who lives in Hải Phòng City’s Ngô Quyền District.

There are two couples among the suspects. They are Trần Văn Thình and Nguyễn Thị Huệ; and Phạm Duy Minh and Pham Thị Bình.

According to the indictment, at 2pm on May 24, last year, the Ministry of Public Security’s Investigation Agency in coordination with relevant agencies inspected Huệ’s house and seized 9.8kg of heroin, 6kg of methamphetamine (ice), 908 tablets of ice and ketamine as well as other kinds of drugs.

On the same day, the agency inspected Cường’s house and seized more than 13kg of Methamphetamine and 3.5kg of heroin.

They also seized more than 5.3kg of ice, nearly 1kg of Ketamine and some 400g of heroin while examining Thình’s house.

From April to May last year, Cường and his accomplice trafficked more than 51kg of methamphetamine, 33kg of ecstasy, 13kg of heroin and more than 1kg of ketamine and other narcotics.

Cường was determined to be the mastermind behind the ring. He and other accomplices were involved in the illegal trading of drugs with a total volume of nearly 100kg. — VNS
