THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — Doctors at the Huế Central Hospital in Thừa Thiên-Huế Province have recently performed a successful liver transplant on a patient with a tumour and hepatitis B.
The patient, Lê Khắc Tý, 52, had been treated in intensive care at the hospital since 2014 for a tumour, as well as hepatitis B and cirrhosis.
He was told he needed a liver transplant and was put on the waiting list.
The patient received the new liver late last month and is now in a stable condition and has been discharged, a representative from the hospital said on Wednesday.
The liver was donated by a brain dead patient in Hà Nội, he said.
“This was the first patient in central and Central Highlands regions who was successfully transplanted liver by doctors of the Huế Hospital”, he added. (the hospital representative)
