AAG cable’s shunt fault fixed

HÀ NỘI — Repair work on the Asia America Gateway (AAG) undersea cable was finished at noon on Saturday, four days earlier than expected.

The internet traffic on the cable has been completely restored and is now fully operational.

Previously, the cable section that was about 125km from the shore off the southern beach of Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province, connecting HCM City to Hong Kong, reportedly suffered problems last month

The incident had slowed down internet connection for millions users in the country.

The AAG cable has a total length of more than 20,000km, connecting Southeast Asia with the US. It was put into operation in November 2009. The route’s connecting point with Việt Nam is part of the S1 section, extending 314km and coming on land in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province. — VNS
