KHÁNH HOÀ — A truck overturned on Tuesday morning on the road leading from the Cam Lâm - Nha Trang expressway to National Highway 1 (the section through Cam Hiệp Commune in Khánh Hòa Province), resulting in the immediate death of two people.
According to initial information, at around 5.30am on July 1, the truck with licence plate 79C-110.95 driven by Lê Xuân Lành (born 1993, residing in Bến Khế Hamlet, Khánh Vĩnh Bắc Commune, Khánh Hòa Province) was travelling in the direction from HCM City to Khánh Hòa. When navigating a curve on the road leading to National Highway 1, the truck unexpectedly overturned.
The truck overturning caused hundreds of steel box beams on the vehicle's cargo bed to spill onto the road, severely deforming the cabin. Driver Lê Xuân Lành and assistant driver Đoàn Ý (born in 1994, residing in thôn Bến Khế, xã Khánh Vĩnh Bắc) died at the scene.
Immediately after the incident, the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Khánh Hòa Province deployed a specialised rescue vehicle and six officers to the scene. The forces used specialised equipment to cut the cabin and retrieve the bodies of the victims.
Units from the Khánh Hòa Provincial Police collaborated with the Provincial People’s Procuracy and Cam Hiệp Commune Police to conduct a site investigation and autopsy to determine the cause of the accident.
According to sources from the authorities, the truck involved in the accident is owned by Nguyễn Quỳnh Phương, a resident of Khánh Hòa Province. The truck was manufactured in 2015, with the most recent inspection conducted on 6 May 2025 at the Khánh Hòa Province Motor Vehicle Registration Centre, valid until 5 November 2025.
The cause of the accident is being investigated and clarified by the authorities in Khánh Hòa Province. — VNS
