HÀ NỘI – Individuals and collectives at home and abroad have donated over VNĐ1.09 trillion (US$44.4 million) to the Central Relief Committee under the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) to support people hit by Typhoon Yagi as of 5pm on September 15.

The Central Relief Committee said that on September 12-13, it conducted first-phase allocation to 20 localities hit by the storm, and the second allocation will be implemented on September 16 basing on the level of damage of localities.

The committee is continuing to update and publicly disclose the list of individuals and collectives who have made donations, it said.

Vice Chairman of the VFF Central Committee Trương Thị Ngọc Anh said that through VFF committees in localities and organisations, the VFF Central Committee will directly transfer the donated funds to the affected areas, enabling affected people to address the aftermath of the storm and floods. Beyond the material value, the support carries sentiments and solidarity for those hit by natural disasters, she stated.

The VFF official held that along with the immediate support, it is now time to consider long-term assistance to help the victims re-build their houses, resume production and settle down. VNS
