ĐỒNG NAI PROVINCE — The Việt Nam Coast Guard apprised some 800 students, Youth Union members and others in the southern province of Đồng Nai about drug prevention laws, drug-related crimes at sea and the country’s sovereignty over its sea and islands at an event organised to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, June 26.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Phan Nhân Hậu of the coast guard’s Reconnaissance Unit No. 2 said the event on June 21, also to mark the action month for drug prevention and control from June 1 to 30, “contributes to strengthening the solidarity between the army and people.”
Coast Guard members distributed more than 2,500 leaflets about the harmful effects of drugs at ferry terminals, piers and the border with the city.
At a session at Phước Thiền High School, teachers, officials, Youth Union members, and local residents were informed about the nation’s sovereignty over its seas and islands, the functions and tasks of the Coast Guard, drug dangers, and the role of drug prevention.
